Gabay Chemicals offers TNC nitrocellulose grades with nitrogen contents below 12.5%. These are the grades used in wood finishes, packaging inks and nail polish. They are wood pulp based resins damped with either isopropyl alcohol or a variety of plasticizers.
Nitrocellulose
RS Grade & SS Grade & Plasticized NC Chip
RS Grade
RS Nitrocellulose is soluble in esters such as butyl acetate and ketones such as methyl isobutyl ketone. RS types have excellent tolerance for aromatic hydrocarbons. They are commonly used in furniture finishes for their high gloss and good alcohol resistance.
SS Grade
SS Nitrocellulose grades are also soluble in various esters and ketones. They are used in packaging inks for their better solubility in alcohols.
Plasticized NC Chip
TNC offers a range of plasticized nitrocellulose that are 80% NC and 20% plasticizer. They are typically used to achieve finished formulations with lower VOC content. These grades are zero VOC and have an extremely low moisture content. They bring high gloss to wood lacquer formulations and are popular in NC/urethane formulations.
